If you refer to pages 24 and 25 in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (American Psychological Association, 2010), you'll see information on writing author notes. However, please keep in mind that information is directed to authors submitting manuscripts for publication in APA journals, rather than to students completing academic work. In fact, "students should note that an author note is usually not a requirement for theses and dissertations" (American Psychological Association, 2010, p. 24). Please check with your instructor or supervisor to determine his or her requirements regarding the author note.
