APA Style (7th ed.)

The titles of resources seldom appear in text because the important information for your reader is the author's name and what the author said, whereas the title of the resource simply indicates where the information was published. For this reason, the title information is available in the references only. If you think the title of the resource is critical information and therefore needs to be included in your text, please note that authors should "use italics for books, reports, webpages, and other stand-alone works" (p. 170) and "set off the title of a periodical article or book chapter" in quotation marks (American Psychological Association, 2020, p. 158). For more information on what titles are italicized rather than quoted, please see Use of Italics from the APA Style website and A Tale of Two Reference Formats from the APA Style blog.
