APA 6th Edition

Please see "APA Style Sample Papers" on the Writing Centre website. If there are any discrepancies between assignment instructions and what is shown in the sample papers, students should follow the assignment instructions.

The sample papers were created by the American Psychological Association (APA) and reflect their expectations for authors submitting manuscripts for publication in a scientific journal published by the APA. Please note that there may be some differences between the expectations of authors submitting a paper to the APA for publication and RRU students writing papers. For example, title pages for student papers usually do not show a page number, and at RRU, references to resources retrieved from a subscription-based electronic database that do not have a DOI  assigned to them can provide either the home page URL of the database or the name of the database (click here for the rationale). If you have questions about what is expected of you, please refer to the resources in APA Style (6th ed.) and/or speak with your instructor.

APA 7th Edition

Please see the examples of an annotated student paper and professional paper on the American Psychological Association's Sample Papers web page. Please note that these examples reflect the differences between the expectations of authors submitting a paper to the APA for publication and students writing papers for an assignment. For example, student papers do not contain a running head and include the instructor and course name on the title page. However, if there are any discrepancies between assignment instructions and what is shown in the sample papers, students should follow the assignment instructions. If you have questions about  what is expected  of you, please refer to the resources in APA Style (7th ed.) and/or speak with your instructor.
