APA Style (7th ed.)

Sometimes students may want to cite an ebook in their assignment, but the ebook does not include page numbers. In this situation, the APA Style recommendations are to use paragraph numbers rather than page numbers, which will likely involve counting the paragraphs yourself. You can also include a heading (or an abbreviated heading—in quotation marks—if the heading is quite long) instead of paragraph numbers, or a heading for a section plus the paragraph number(s) in that section. Here are some sample in-text citation models:

(last name(s), year, para. #)
(last name(s), year, paras. #-#)
(last name(s), year, heading, para. #)
(last name(s), year, “abbreviated heading,” paras. #-#)
