If you prefer creative forms of expression to the formality and structure of academic writing, you may find it difficult at times to write about your ideas in an academic format. The good news is that your creativity can be an important part of the writing process (Yoo, 2017), even if the end product your instructor is requesting may not be your preferred or most comfortable way of expressing yourself.

If you want to learn more about how to use your creativity in thinking and writing about a topic, or you'd like to learn about the typical expectations in academic writing, please consider booking an appointment with the Writing Centre.
