You may experience differences across different institutions, but within the same institution, you can expect instructors to assess academic integrity based on the university’s policy and procedures e.g., RRU’s Academic Integrity policy.
Where you may experience some differences are choices that reflect instructor preferences within courses, such as if an instructor permits the use of generative AI. For example, at RRU, instructors determine what use of generative AI is appropriate for specific courses/assignments versus there being one approach required across the institution. Since students will likely be able to use generative AI in different ways between courses and/or assignments, what is acceptable for one assignment could be assessed as academic misconduct in another assignment.
