APA Style (7th ed.)
Authors
- "Use a comma to separate an author's initials from additional author names, even when there are only two authors; use an ampersand (&) before the final author's name: Author, A. A., & Author, B. B." (American Psychological Association [APA], 2020, p. 286).
Editors
- When editors' names are listed in the author position (e.g., referencing a special section or special issue in a journal), follow the pattern for authors: Editor, A., & Editor, B. (APA, 2020, p. 319).
- Since editors' names are not inverted when referencing a resource from an edited work (e.g., chapter in an edited book), use just an ampersand to separate two editors' names. Please see page 326 in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association as well as How do I reference a chapter of an edited book in APA Style? for more information and examples.
For more information about in-text citations for resources with two authors, see How do I cite a resource by two authors in APA Style?
