APA Style (7th ed.)

While many journal articles are published in both digital and physical, printed format, some articles are published exclusively online. In the absence of page numbering for the digital version of the article, these articles may be identified by a unique article number instead. As per the APA Style manual (American Psychological Association, 2020, p. 294), this information is included in the reference entry for the journal article in place of page numbers. For example:

Arawai, T. (2010). Using medical drama to teach biomedical ethics to medical students. Medical Teacher, 32(5), Article e205-e210. https://doi.org/10.3109/01421591003697457

For more information, see the examples from How to Cite a Journal Article With an Article Number and page 318 of the APA Style manual. For information on citing journal articles with page numbers, see How Do I Reference a Journal Article That Has a DOI in APA Style? as well as How Do I Reference a Journal Article in APA Style (no DOI)?
